CLASS OFFERING

Prenatal Yoga

All our Prenatal Yoga teachers are experienced yoga teachers, who have undergone the Bodhi Yoga teacher training and been with our studio for a minimum of two years. On top of this, our prenatal teachers undergo a further three month one on one teacher training.

Prenatal means: occurring, existing, or performed before birth. However, you may begin taking Prenatal Yoga classes only after the 12th/13th week of pregnancy because the fetus is not stable enough in the womb before then.

No previous yoga knowledge or practice is required to attend a Prenatal class. The only requirement is that you be pregnant! Most of the asanas that you will do, will be the same as those that intermediate and advanced practitioners are doing.

In a typical Prenatal class, we focus on alleviating the stress that is being placed on your neck and back by the increased weight of your stomach. We also focus on creating more space in the womb for the baby by correcting your posture and on strengthening the pelvic floor. Of course, breathing/meditation exercises are incorporated to help mother and child calm their minds and prepare for birthing.

Regular practice results in a better and painless posture for you and more comfort for your baby. A better posture also means that you and your baby receive more oxygen. A stronger pelvic floor leads to an easier birth (and easier urination after birth), as does the ability to control your breath. Finally, the small and tranquil setting of our studio and the expert instruction allow you to bond with your baby to an even greater and deeper extent than before.

As usual, our classes are small—probably the smallest Prenatal classes you’ll find anywhere—so you, and your baby, are always in our line of vision.
