Hatha Vinyasa

“Vinyasa” is often understood to mean “flow”, but the more literal Sanskrit meaning is “a step to a goal/place”. Vinyasa Yoga is also often called “Flow”. Vinyasa also means to control the breath so that one breathes in a flowing way that not only connects one’s pose to the next but also strengthens and purifies one’s body and mind.

Hatha Vinyasa is suitable for the beginner to the advanced student, because if a student doesn’t want to attempt a more advanced version of a pose, he/she is welcome to practice more suitable/accessible versions.

In this type of Hatha Yoga class, intention, breath and movement are closely integrated. The teacher carefully sequences the poses in such a way as to allow students to try one or two poses that they might have otherwise thought impossible to do. As a result of being more warmed-up (Hatha Vinyasa is more fast-paced than its cousin Hatha Yoga so be ready to sweat!) and of doing the correct lead-in poses, more challenging poses can be safely attempted.
