CLASS OFFERING

Hatha yoga

Hatha means “force” or “forceful”. This branch of yoga pursues self-transformation and self-transcendence through strenuous physical purification and strengthening.

Each asana in Hatha is held for a longer period of time. You hold one pose before you move on to the next one. Holding an asana for a longer period really allows you to feel where your body is stretching and strengthening. Furthermore, it also gives you time to focus on and even out your breathing.

In a typical class at Bodhi Yoga, we demonstrate the poses as well as walk around and adjust. We encourage and demonstrate the use of props if the student appears to require them. Proper body alignment is more important than immediately achieving a difficult asana variation. If a student feels pain, he/she must come out of the asana immediately and a different variation is given.
