Yoga Review

Although James has only practiced yoga for five years, his progress has been lightning-fast. This is probably in no small part due to the fact that James was a professional soldier for 20 years (ten of which were as a Major), and is therefore extremely self-disciplined.

Before trying yoga, he followed a regular weightlifting regimen and weighed almost 80kg. He began to feel stiff and uncomfortable, however, and decided to give yoga a try in the hopes that it would improve his flexibility. He took yoga classes at his local gym to begin with, but found that he didn’t get enough personal attention. This led him to Bodhi Yoga where he almost immediately practiced every day.

He was glad to discover that not only did his physical flexibility improve, but so did his mental agility; more specifically he discovered that negative external factors didn’t affect him as strongly anymore as they had before his discovery of yoga. Not surprisingly, he decided to retire from the army and share his practice with others.

Now weighing in at a lithe 66kg, James’ teaching style embodies the discipline and precision you’d expect from an ex-army man. At the same time though, there is an undercurrent of gentleness to his teaching which attracts beginner students to his classes like bees to honey. After all, it was a mere five years ago that this man thought he would never be able to touch his toes so he remembers what it’s like to be a novice.
