Breathing is an unconscious, natural action—so simple and effortless that it’s often overlooked. Yet, in today’s competitive and stressful life, constantly facing challenges, our breath gradually becomes shallow and inefficient. This reduces oxygen and vital life energy intake, leaving the body fatigued and unable to recover. It also causes mental tension, depression, and disrupts the normal function of the nervous system. Clearly, breathing impacts not only our body and mind but also the quality of life and vitality.

Breathwork holds a crucial place in yoga, being the fourth limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Its main purpose is to balance the body’s internal energy and clear energy channels, awakening latent inner divinity and universal consciousness, ultimately achieving unity. In yoga practice, breath is more than just oxygen intake—it carries Prana, the life force energy. Thus, breathing influences not only the physical and mental levels but also the energetic and spiritual dimensions.
Moreover, proper breath coordination with asana practice is essential. Poor or irregular breathing can diminish benefits or even pose risks, regardless of how well the poses are executed.
