Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by German-born Joseph Pilates and later evolved in the United States, incorporating elements of ballet to create a unique and refined movement system. Today, Pilates is widely practiced across Europe and the U.S. in rehabilitation clinics, physical therapy centers, fitness studios, as well as in professional sports and dance settings for enhancing movement quality and post-injury recovery.
The practice of Pilates follows six core principles: concentration, breathing, centering, control, precision, and flow.
